For me, this door represents the cycle of life. On the front, a germinating seed is sprouting with a fetus inside, to represent the beginning of a new life & a new generation. The door itself is actually painted with layers upon layers of paint, representing new generations being born. The paints on the door, (red, white and blue), are lighter and more welcoming than the warmer colors on the back. The splash of paint is also notably smaller on this side, showing how small and frail new life is.
On the back, we see a larger scene of autumn, and a decaying fence. This represents how all life comes to an end. Autumn is the season where plants decay and die, another metaphor for the end of a human life. The back of the door is also more worn out, like a person who is getting older. For me, the torn down fence shows how initially the person had barriers in their life restricting them. Eventually, they learned to tear those borders down and live a free and happy lifestyle. Now the person is dying, and the door represents their long and eventful life.
